Multilevel Surgery in Hemiplegia (Cerebral Palsy)

Multi-Level Surgery in Hemiplegia (Cerebral Palsy)

📌 17-year-old boy, right hemiplegia: very impaired walking (see video), with multiple deformities (femur, knee, leg, foot). He already underwent several operations in other centers. He uses a brace that cannot help his problem.

📌 Multi-Level surgery* was performed at OrthoChildren Center (dr Manuele Lampasi, dr Giovanni Lucchesi), Bologna/Rimini (Italy) with subsequent intensive rehabilitation.

📌 A few months later, excellent result with adequate mechanical alignment and a more stable limb (see video).

📌 The treatment of orthopedic problems in cerebral palsy requires experienced centers, such as OrthoChildren Center (dr Manuele Lampasi, dr Giovanni Lucchesi). Available procedures range from simple percutaneous interventions (SPML) to complex reconstructive interventions. Only centers that have the capacity to perform all types of interventions can dose the indication based on the patient and not treat all patients equally.
