OrthoChildren
Center

OrthoChildren Center directed by Dr. Lampasi is an International Center for the treatment of congenital and acquired deformities in Pediatric Orthopedics.

OrthoChildren Center

Bologna: tradition, innovation, and surgical experience

The Center was founded in Bologna, the cradle of Pediatric Orthopedics in Italy, and carries on the tradition of the School of Pediatric Orthopedics of the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute, where Dr. Lampasi trained and worked for many years.

This tradition is combined with:

  • the multidisciplinary pediatric experience gained during the years in which Dr. Lampasi was Head of Pediatric Orthopedics at the Meyer Pediatric Hospital in Florence
  • the innovations resulting from the numerous experiences abroad of Dr. Lampasi, Dr. Lucchesi and the OrthoChildren Team (London, Barcelona, Lyon, Marseille, Lille, Basel, Miami, etc.)
  • the surgical skills on complex cases developed over the years by Dr. Lampasi and his team.
Deformities in Pediatric Orthopedics

Our focus:
deformities, complexity, secondary bone pathologies

The Center’s primary focus is the treatment of deformities in Pediatric Orthopedics: congenital deformities (hypoplasia, clubfoot, etc.) or acquired deformities (due to trauma, neurological pathologies, or other conditions), axial deviations (varus, valgus, etc.), limb length discrepancies, limb lengthening and hip dislocations.

Adult patients with similar deformities are also treated.

In a landscape where healthcare services are primarily focused on low-complexity conditions (flat feet, etc.), the Center serves as a point of reference for Italy and abroad for more complex deformities and bone deformities secondary to underlying conditions (neurological conditions, skeletal dysplasias, rare diseases, etc.).

Low complexity pathologies

Treatment of less complex conditions (flat foot, etc.) is not neglected, for which internationally recognized surgical indication criteria are adopted, thus avoiding surgical approaches for children who do not truly require it.

The training of the youngest, the dissemination

OrthoChildren Center continues, both at the Italian and international level, the educational and outreach activities already carried out by Dr. Lampasi and his OrtoPediatria group throughout Italy.
